This page compares LiFi vs WiFi describes basic contrast between LiFi and WiFi automatic . It covers basics of LiFi vs WiFi including their quality , working action , merits, demerits, demand etc. in order to derive contrast uniting  Lifi and wifi.


Introduction:

Let us go between some basic contrast uniting LiFi and WiFi.

LiFi stands for Light Fidelity and WiFi stands for Wireless Fidelity. Both LiFi and WiFi automatic are most used for internet based request . LiFi uses light as medium for data relay where as WiFi uses Electra-magnetic waves at many radio frequencies for data conveying . Light undergoes resolve interference when compared to radio waves, and so can be used in more crammed habituate . LiFi is an optical conveying automatic where as WiFi is a radio conveying automatic . Let us realize them personal  ahead we derive a brief contrast uniting them.

Following are the quality of LiFi automatic as image in the figure-1.

• LiFi (Light Fidelity) works based on VLC (Visible Light conveying ) idea .

• It consists of two most section to drive the internet ,namely a LED Lamp and a Li-Fi Dongle.

• LiFi transmits data using light power conversation .

• It uses LEDs at transmit ends and Photo-radar at collected ends. LiFi dongle uses image -radar as shown in the figure-1. Here LEDs are connected with internet server via lamp driver for internet relation .

• It uses light with wavelength ranging from 380 nm to 780 nm for data conveying uniting LEDs and image radar .

• LiFi complex help three modes viz. peer to peer, star and relay .

• LiFi complex uses conversation projects such as OOK, VPPM, CSK.

• The PHY and MAC layers of LiFi complex are defined in IEEE 802.15.7-2011 level .

• LiFi automatic is used for many request and that include street lights, sign boards, internet etc.

Following are the quality of WiFi technology as depicted in the figure-2.

• It consists of two for most gadget namely, a Wi-FI router or Access point(AP), Wi-Fi dongle and Wi-Fi stations.

• As shown a WiFi AP or Router is relay to the internet using a broadband cable or with cellular network. All the wifi compatible mobile phones, tablets or laptops are relay with AP (or router) to obtain internet.

• WiFi network action in either of two modes viz. adhoc (i.e. BSS-Basic Service Set) and fabric (i.e. ESS-Extended Service Set).

• In BSS WLAN docile stations (i.e. STAs) convey directly. In ESS WLAN total STAs convey with APs (Access Points) to access internet.

• WiFi help opposed speeds and coverage ranges as per implemented standard in the gadget  (STAs, APs). 802.11a help upto 54 Mbps, 11b upto 11 Mbps, 11n help 72 Mbps/150 Mbps as per BW (20MHz/40MHz), 802.11ac wave-1 help upto 1.3 Gbps (80MHz, 3 streams, 256QAM), 802.11ac wave-2 help upto 3.5 Gbps (160MHz, 4 streams, 256QAM) etc. The contrast coverage of 70 meters (indoor) to 250 meters (outdoor) can be attain .

• WiFi network action in opposed frequency bands viz. 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz.

• The PHY and MAC layers of WiFi complex are defined in IEEE 802.11 level . There are various many of 802.11 and that involved 11a, 11b, 11g, 11n, 11ac etc.
